Concrete corner repair: field progress before paint
When a coated concrete corner cracks around a railing post, the repair boundary and the final coating need separate decisions.
These supplied project photos and AWC’s edited field video document a repair sequence around existing black railing posts. They are shared here to explain the work, without assigning the project to La Jolla.
1. Record the damaged corners and existing coating
Cracks and missing material are visible around the existing railing posts. Record both close details and the surrounding landing before deciding the repair limits.

2. Expose the repair area and review the post interface
The later photos show exposed grey surfaces and material loss around the post areas. The video shows removal and preparation. These views do not confirm concealed conditions or the adequacy of the railing anchorage.

3. Follow the patching and resurfacing sequence
The edited field video follows the damaged corners through removal, preparation, patching, and a resurfaced top before paint. The four still photographs above document damage and exposed work areas; they are not presented as final after photos.

4. Define the remaining work before closeout
- Identify the final coating or paint system and its preparation requirements.
- Define the separate required railing and post repair scope.
- Confirm actual repair limits, concealed conditions, access, and protection at the property.
- Record applicable curing, inspection, and return-to-use requirements in the written scope.
A surface patch alone does not settle those items. AWC needs site-specific findings before recommending the appropriate repair.
